Ronald Reagan (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) – was the 40th President of the United States of America ( 1981 – 1989), and the Governor of California. His presidency is known for the reduction of inflation, taxes, and his ability to concentrate successfully both on internal and foreign matters – culminating in the ending of the Cold War. He supported pro-democracy movements all around the world, in the countries like Poland, east Germany, Czechoslovakia, and more.
Cold War – (1947-1991) was a political conflict, primarily between the Soviet Union and the Western World- most of all – the United States. It involved economic and technological competition (resulting in the Space Race), propaganda, nuclear and conventional arms races, etc. The “silent war” was based on the major disagreement on the subject of political philosophy (communism vs democracy), freedom of speech, political stability of the whole Earth. Thanks to Ronald Reagan’s diplomatic and strategic movements in the 80-ties of the century, the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
