According to the dictionary, an entrepreneur is defined as “a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.” Many people start their own business but few succeed. Why is that? No matter whether you’re making $100,000 or $1 billion a year, those who are successful entrepreneurs share certain traits.

How Leadership Games Contribute to Success

Playing problem-solving games is a fun way to develop problem-solving skills that you will take with you out into the business world. As you play these games, you become more aware of your own strengths and weaknesses, and the greater the self-awareness, the better the ability to achieve goals and solve problems.

Team-building games also teaches you effective communication. As the leader it is your role to guide your team into solving the problem at hand, and to do that successfully, you must communicate clearly and respectfully so that everybody understands and agrees with how to reach the common goal.

Teamwork games are important for entrepreneurs because besides helping to bond their employees, it can help them reach specific goals for their business. Successful entrepreneurs rely on the team they’ve built around them – no one achieves success alone – and so strong working relationships are key in any business. Teamwork games in business are effective because people are doing something different, which forces them to depend on each other to figure out a solution.

Two Examples of Teamwork Games

1.   A business owner took his employees to a vineyard with the goal of creating their own wine. They were divided into several teams and each team was given a few wine varietals. The goal was to create their own signature wine, design a label and develop a marketing pitch, which was judged at the end of the competition. Not only was the game fun, it also taught people to work together toward a common goal.
2.   A common teamwork game is to scatter objects all over a room or within a marked outdoor place.  The group divides into pairs, and one person in each team puts on a blindfold while the partner verbally guides her through the ‘minefield’, avoiding stepping on any of the objects. This builds trust between team members, an essential component in any entrepreneurship.

Why Games Are Successful In Helping Us Learn

Making a learning experience fun allows us to absorb the information much more easily. Games help spark your imagination, open up your creativity, and make use of your talents.  Group activities, fun mental or physical games, and other team building games can be used to identify individuals with leadership potential and help them expand upon it.

One of the reasons that team building games are so valuable is that they create a shared experience for the entire group that is not work. It allows the group to get to know each other on a personal level and teams work much better together when the members of the team have strong friendships.

Leadership games can fast-track your success as an entrepreneur for two simple reasons: they allow you to use and expand your leadership skills, and they create trust and camaraderie among your employees which makes them much better and more loyal workers.
